UK Legal Guide

Are peptides legal in the UK?

Short answer: Research peptides may be legally bought, sold, and possessed in the United Kingdom for laboratory research use. They are not licensed medicines and must not be marketed or used for human consumption.

The regulatory framework

UK supply of research chemicals is governed primarily by the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016. Most popular research peptides — BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, MOTS-c, Epitalon, KPV — are not controlled drugs and are not psychoactive substances, so they fall outside both the Misuse of Drugs Act and the Psychoactive Substances Act.

Because they are not licensed medicines under the Human Medicines Regulations, they may be supplied by UK vendors only as research chemicals — labelled "for laboratory research use only, not for human consumption." Selling them as treatments or making medical claims is not lawful.

Specific compounds

  • GLP-1 / GIP analogues (semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide): the licensed pharmaceutical versions are prescription-only medicines. Research-grade equivalents may be supplied for laboratory use only.
  • BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, MOTS-c, Epitalon, KPV, Sermorelin, Tesamorelin: not scheduled, supplied as research chemicals.

What UK Peptide Store does

Every product is sold for laboratory research use only. We do not provide medical advice, recommend doses for human use, or supply prescription medicines. Researchers placing an order confirm their products will be used in a research setting.

Importing peptides into the UK

UK Peptide Store ships from UK stock — no customs, no import VAT, no border seizures. Buying domestically avoids the legal grey area of importing research chemicals from non-UK suppliers.
